This competition, held since 1997, celebrates quality kids' music by encouraging viewers to vote prior the battle and then listen in to see if there band won. The prize given to the people who voted for whoever turns up to be the Kids' Band Of The Year is much merchandise, including books, audio, dolls and games. The consolation prize given to runners-up who voted for what didn't become Kids' Band Of The Year is "a prize that is so random." It occurs every New Year's Eve and is filmed, as of 2010, at CMC Studios in Las Vegas, Nevada. Scoring is decided by 3 judges ( as of now, Lachy Gillespie, Anthony Field, and Simon Pryce.)
